Your information

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 27 July 2026

On Point Solar & Electrical respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with and how you can get it back or have it deleted. We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

Who we are

This website is operated by On Point Solar & Electrical (ABN 90 654 859 720), a locally owned solar, electrical and air-conditioning business based in Townsville, North Queensland.

If you have a privacy question or request, contact us using any of the above. We are the right people to ask — enquiries are not handled by a third party.

What we collect

We only collect what we need to do the job you have asked us to do.

When you request a quote or contact us

  • Your name, phone number and email address
  • Your suburb, and the service you are enquiring about
  • Anything you choose to tell us in the message field — for example your roof type, your average power bill, or details about your property

When you apply for a job with us

  • Your name, phone number, email address and suburb
  • The type of work you do
  • Your CV, and whatever it contains — typically your work history, qualifications, licence and ticket numbers, and sometimes referee contact details
  • Anything else you choose to tell us in the message field

When we do work for you

  • Your installation address and site details
  • Information needed for grid connection, rebate claims and warranty registration — for example your NMI, retailer and system details
  • Records of the work performed, as we are required to keep for electrical compliance

When you simply visit this website

Our hosting provider records standard server logs, which include your IP address, the page requested, the time of the request and your browser type. This is ordinary infrastructure logging used to keep the site running and secure. We do not use it to build a profile of you, and we do not combine it with anything else.

Job applications and CVs

A CV is more sensitive than a quote enquiry, so it gets handled differently and it is worth being specific about it.

  • Your CV is emailed directly to Jason as an email attachment. It is not uploaded to a database, a cloud storage bucket or a recruitment platform.
  • It is never published on this website, and there is no public link to it. Nothing you send us through the careers form is visible to anyone but us.
  • We keep applications on file so we can contact you when a suitable role comes up. If you would rather we did not, say so and we will delete it.
  • We will not contact your referees or your current employer without asking you first.
  • If you would like your application deleted at any point, email us and we will delete it and confirm that we have. You do not have to give a reason.

How we use it

We use your personal information to:

  • respond to your enquiry and prepare a quote
  • carry out and support the work you have engaged us for, including warranty and service
  • meet our obligations for electrical compliance, grid connection and rebate schemes
  • consider you for employment, if you have applied for a job
  • keep the records we are required by law to keep

If we ever want to use your information for something other than what you gave it to us for, we will ask you first.

What we don't do

Plainly, so there is no ambiguity. We do not:

  • sell, rent or trade your personal information to anyone, ever
  • run advertising trackers or marketing pixels on this website
  • use Google Analytics or any other visitor-analytics tool on this website
  • build behavioural profiles, or use your information for automated decision-making
  • add you to a marketing list because you asked for a quote
  • publish your name, your review, your address or your CV without your say-so

Who we share it with

We share your information only where it is necessary to deliver the service, meet a legal obligation, or run the business. That means:

  • Our hosting provider (Netlify) — this website and its contact forms run on Netlify's infrastructure.
  • Our email delivery provider (Resend) — form submissions are delivered to our inbox by Resend. Your enquiry or CV passes through their system as an email.
  • Manufacturers and suppliers — where we need to register a warranty or order equipment for your job, we share only what that requires.
  • Electricity distributors and scheme administrators — where a grid connection application or a rebate claim requires it.
  • Our accountant and professional advisers — under confidentiality obligations.
  • Law enforcement or regulators — only where we are legally required to.

Overseas storage

Netlify and Resend are United States based providers, so information submitted through this website's forms is transmitted through and may be stored on servers outside Australia. We have chosen established providers who publish their own security and data-handling practices, but you should know that this is the case before you send us anything through the website. If you would rather your information stayed onshore, phone us on 0422 677 121 or post it to our West End address instead of using the forms.

Cookies and this website

This website does not set tracking cookies, and it does not run analytics or advertising scripts. There is no cookie banner because there is nothing to consent to. Our fonts are served from this site rather than a third-party font network, and the Google reviews shown on the site are stored as ordinary text in the site's own code — not loaded live from Google — so viewing them does not report anything back to anyone.

The one exception is our contact page, which embeds a map from OpenStreetMap so you can find our workshop. Loading that map means your browser makes a request to OpenStreetMap, which is subject to their privacy policy rather than ours. No other page on this site loads third-party content.

How long we keep it

  • Quote enquiries that don't proceed — kept while there is a realistic prospect of the job going ahead, then deleted.
  • Customer and job records — kept for at least seven years, as required for tax, warranty and electrical compliance purposes.
  • Job applications — kept on file so we can contact you about future roles, and deleted whenever you ask.

How we protect it

Information sent through this website travels over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection. Our forms are protected against automated abuse, and the endpoints that receive them reject submissions that do not come from this website. Access to our email and business records is restricted to the people who need it.

No system is perfectly secure, and we will not pretend otherwise. If we ever have a data breach that is likely to cause you serious harm, we will tell you and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner, as the notifiable data breaches scheme requires.

Accessing, correcting or deleting your information

You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it if it is wrong, or ask us to delete it. Email jason@onpointnq.com.au or call 0422 677 121.

We will respond within 30 days. There is no charge. We may need to verify who you are before we hand over personal information, which protects you as much as us. If we cannot do what you have asked — for example where we are legally required to keep a compliance record — we will tell you why in writing.

You can also deal with us anonymously or under a pseudonym if you would prefer, though we may not be able to quote or carry out work without knowing who and where you are.

Complaints

If you think we have mishandled your personal information, tell us first — email jason@onpointnq.com.au and we will look into it and come back to you within 30 days. Most things are sorted out with a phone call.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you can take it to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle personal information, we will update this page and change the date at the top. If the change is significant and we hold your information, we will tell you directly rather than relying on you to check back.

Questions about any of this? Call Jason on 0422 677 121 or email jason@onpointnq.com.au. We would rather answer a question than have you wondering.

Good to know

Solar & electrical questions, answered straight

No jargon, no sales spin — just honest answers from a local Townsville team.

Are your solar installers certified, and do you use cyclone-rated gear in Townsville?

Yes. Our technicians are fully licensed electrical contractors accredited through Solar Accreditation Australia (SAA). Because Townsville sits in a designated cyclone zone, we only fit heavy-duty, tier-one panels on robust, cyclone-rated mounting frameworks engineered to handle severe coastal storms and high wind loads.

How much can I realistically save by switching to solar in North Queensland?

With Townsville getting 300+ days of sun a year, a properly sized system delivers immediate returns. Your exact saving depends on your daily usage and how much runs during daylight (air con, pool pumps and the like). We run a quick energy audit and design a system that maximises your return — most homes see a meaningful drop on the very next bill.

Is it worth adding a solar battery to my home?

A battery lets you store the cheap daytime power your panels make instead of exporting it for a small feed-in rate, then use it through the night to slash your grid reliance. Our smart hybrid packages also give you blackout backup — keeping lights, fridge and essentials running through storm season.

What's a Level 2 EV charger and why install one at home?

Charging from a normal 10A wall socket is slow and stresses old wiring. A dedicated Level 2 wall charger cuts charge times dramatically and adds smart safety monitoring. We can also sync it with your solar so your car charges on free, excess rooftop power during the day.
